ADIQUIM doubles production capacity for its PROKEL™ line of chelated minerals for Animal Nutrition

Chelated minerals

Chelates are metallic ions that have been bonded to a compound to guarantee its stability and improve the absorption of the mineral by the digestive system of the animal.

These products are made by bonding the minerals with hydrolyzed protein, aminoacids and peptides or through fermentation.

The inorganic salts traditionally used such as carbonates, sulfates and oxides are divided in the digestive process in free ions. Many times these ions are bonded to other compounds that can not be absorbed by the animals. As a result, the use of these ingredients has different responses and outcomes making it difficult to predict the optimal supplementation levels.

Chelates are significantly more stable and available in the animal digestive system than inorganic minerals due to its structure, which can be absorbed intact into the animal system.
